Understanding the CICOPS Scholarship in Italy for Developing Countries

The CICOPS Scholarship offers a valuable opportunity for researchers from developing countries to collaborate and conduct research at the University of Pavia in Italy. This program, managed by the Committee for International Cooperation for Development (CICOPS) and EDiSU, aims to foster international cooperation and strengthen ties between Italian universities and those in developing nations. For the year 2026, the scholarship provides a chance for visiting scholars to spend between four and twelve weeks at the University of Pavia, engaging in research activities.

What the CICOPS Scholarship Covers

The CICOPS Scholarship is designed to support visiting researchers by covering essential expenses during their stay in Italy. This includes a round-trip flight ticket in economy class, ensuring travel costs are managed. Scholars will also receive accommodation at a University College, providing a place to live throughout their research period. Meals are provided through a card for use at university canteens, and a health and personal accident insurance policy is included for peace of mind. Additionally, recipients get a weekly stipend of €150.00 (gross) to help with other living costs.

Eligibility Requirements for CICOPS Scholars

To be considered for the CICOPS Scholarship, candidates must meet specific criteria. Applicants should possess at least two years of experience, either in teaching or working with international organizations and institutions. It is important to note that individuals already enrolled in a Doctoral or Postgraduate Course at an Italian University are not eligible to apply. The scholarship is specifically aimed at junior and senior academics from universities in developing countries, as well as members of significant research centers or international bodies with a focus on development studies.
