Programme Duration and Location

The fellowship can be renewed annually for up to three years, depending on Bloomberg’s discretion and the recipient’s continued progress. Internships will take place over 14 weeks each summer. These internships are located in New York, London, or Toronto.

Minimum Requirements

To be eligible for the Bloomberg Data Science Ph.D. Fellowship, applicants must meet the following criteria:

• Be a full-time doctoral student during the 2027-2028 academic year.
• Have an expected Ph.D. graduation date in or before the end of 2030.
• Maintain full-time student status throughout the fellowship period.
• Attend the academic year kickoff event at Bloomberg Headquarters in New York (unless held online).
• Complete the 14-week paid summer internship in New York, London, or Toronto each year.
• Not be supported by any other industry fellowships concurrently.
• Obtain explicit permission from Bloomberg if employed outside the university.
• Have self-sponsored work authorization (e.g., F-1 OPT or other EAD) covering the full internship or fellowship period, as Bloomberg does not provide U.S. visa sponsorship.
