About the Teach for Uganda STEM Fellowship

The Teach for Uganda STEM Fellowship is a new pilot program. It is part of the Leaders in Teaching Program, which is supported by the Mastercard Foundation. This fellowship aims to address Uganda’s need for skilled and committed STEM teachers, particularly women.

The program recruits young leaders with strong backgrounds in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics. These leaders are then placed in secondary schools. They are supported to become effective teachers, mentors, and role models for students, with a special focus on encouraging girls in STEM.

Programme Duration and Location

Minimum Requirements

To be considered for the Teach for Uganda STEM Fellowship, applicants must meet the following criteria:

• Must be a female Ugandan citizen or a refugee currently residing in Uganda.
• Must hold a Bachelor’s degree in a STEM field.
• Must have a minimum Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) of 3.0.
• Must be between 22 and 27 years old at the time of application.
• Must be proficient in English.
• Must be flexible and willing to be placed in any USE secondary school.
• Must be passionate about education equity, leadership, and driving community change.
• Must be willing to undertake a 1-year, fully-funded Postgraduate Diploma in Education (PGDE).
