Programme Duration and Location

The Commonwealth Startup Fellowships run for a period of six months. The program includes an intensive in-person bootcamp held in Accra, Ghana, estimated from January 25 to February 4, 2027. It also includes a Capstone Week in London, UK, scheduled for May 14-21, 2027.

Minimum Requirements

To be eligible for this fellowship, candidates must meet the following criteria:

• Be at least graduate level.
• Be a citizen of or have been granted refugee status by an eligible low or middle-income Commonwealth country.
• Be permanently resident in an eligible Commonwealth country.
• Be fluent in written and spoken English.
• Not have previously undertaken a Commonwealth Professional Fellowship within the last five years.
• Be available to start the fellowship on November 16, 2026.
• Be available to attend both the Accra and London in-person events.

Competencies Required

In addition to the eligibility criteria, applicants should demonstrate:

• Innovation in their product, service, business model, or approach.
• Active operation of their business for at least twelve months with meaningful progress.
• A product or service available to customers with demonstrated demand.
• A sustainable business model not primarily dependent on donations.
• Creation of positive economic, social, or environmental outcomes.
• Evidence of commercial traction, growth, and potential to scale.
